So you've decided that you desire to occupy astronomy. Many do! Its an amazing interest in the end. Many use up astronomy because their attention has been fired by a TV documentary which introduces them to the wonders of the heavens. Others become interested after conversing with a devoted amateur astronomer, and get injured by the insect of planning to appear at a view of the stars and planets.

Still others were involved as kids, but then lost the interest, simply to own it rekindled in later life, perhaps by seeing a TV documentary, talking to an amateur astronomer, or maybe just one day looking up at the night sky and being injured with a longing for these long-forgotten childhood joys of exploring the world.

Therefore the next step is, of course, to buy a telescope and go out. Or is it? Heres a strange little bit of advice, think about a set of binoculars first. Why? Because, simply, a great couple of binoculars allows you to see much of what you can see with a telescope. And a better view can be often given by a good pair of binoculars (a much better view most of the time) than a cheap telescope.

It is because binoculars have a wide field of view and allow you to navigate the atmosphere very easily. Many good things is seen with binoculars, including many of the most striking star clusters, hundreds of thousands of stars and most of the planets of the solar system. You may also see much of the depth of the moon, including craters and mountains.

But eventually you'll need a telescope. And just like all buys, the best thing to do is ask an expert which can be the best one. And where can you find experts? At your local astronomy club, needless to say. Ask the members concerning the pros and cons of the various telescopes. Every telescope has its advantages and disadvantages. With the experience of a professional under your belt youll be able to buy the telescope thats right for the viewing requirements.
