Kurt Busch dominated at the beginning, increased back once again to the lead late and ran to his second win of the time in the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway.

The protecting NASCAR Nextel Cup success, beloved on all the Sportsbooks chances, led 110 of the first 150 laps on the pie and kept his fifth-place spot in the details standings with six races left to choose the 10 drivers who will race for the subject.

The "Chase for the Cup started at New Hampshire International Speedway on Sept. 18. Busch handed second-place finisher Rusty Wallace coming out of Turn 3 with 17 laps left and held onto the lead whilst four cautions got out ahead of the end, which forced three additional laps and the green-white checkered flag

Pocono's special 2.5-mile tri-oval has hosted NASCAR's races since 1974 when the first cup was run up there. The Mattioli family, owner of the course, has been through some ups and downs while fighting to make successful to the triangular racetrack.

Right after the very first Indy Car race at Pocono, the Schaefer 500 in 1971, Hurricane Agnes struck the location. The following financial recession and energy crisis threatened Pocono Raceway's and a number of other tracks did not survive. Rose Mattioli and Pocono Raceway owners Joe considered trying to sell out.

"We were very nearly broke 2 or 3 times but were too foolish to appreciate it," Joe Mattioli said. "We were on the verge of attempting to sell the course when we received a phone call from Bill France Sr., who asked us to meet up with him in Ny.

At the conference he tried to persuade the track to not be sold by me, to put it out and stay the course. He gave us moralsupport and plenty of good advice.

"He and his wife, Annie B., found the race another couple of years to exhibit their support for Pocono Raceway. Soon thereafter his son and he, Bill Jr., gave our second NASCAR competition to us and as they say, the others is history.

"Had it not been for Bill France Sr., Annie B. and Bill Jr., Pocono Raceway wouldn't be here today."

Because getting that 2nd Cup date in 1982, the course has continued to cultivate. The Mattiolis welcome nearly 100,000 ticket holders to their house in the Poconos twice each year. On the track, Bill Elliott, Rusty Wallace, the late Tim Richmond and Darrell Waltrip are one of the track's standouts.
